Instructions

Top Tip

For healthier, more abundant blooms, prune your rose bush in early spring, cutting back to an outward-facing bud to encourage an open, airy shape. This improves air circulation, reducing the risk of disease and promoting strong new growth. Regular deadheading will also keep your rose blooming for longer.

How to Water

Water deeply once or twice a week, ensuring the soil remains moist but not waterlogged. Apply a balanced rose fertiliser every few weeks during the growing season to encourage strong growth and abundant blooms. Prune in early spring by removing dead or weak stems and cutting back healthy stems to an outward-facing bud. Deadhead spent flowers regularly to promote continuous flowering. Apply a layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and protect the roots. Keep an eye out for pests such as aphids and treat promptly if needed.

How to Plant

choose a sunny spot with at least six hours of direct sunlight and well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice as wide and slightly deeper than the root ball, then mix in compost to enrich the soil. Gently remove the rose from its pot, loosen the roots if compacted, and place it in the hole with the graft union just above soil level. Backfill with soil, firming it gently around the base, and water thoroughly to help it settle. Keep the soil consistently moist in the first few weeks but avoid waterlogging. Apply a 5cm layer of mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds, and feed with a balanced rose fertiliser during the growing season.
