Fresh or dried leaves are used to make teas. Sage loves a warm, sunny and sheltered spot - and is attractive enough to be grown alongside other ornamental plants.
Water plants regularly, especially during dry spells, but avoid overwatering as sage hates wet roots.

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Harvest sage leaves in the late morning or early evening, when they are their most flavoursome.
How to Water
Water well until established. After this, sage is relatively drought tolerant and only needs to be watered during dry spells or when the top 2-3cm of soil dry out.
How to Plant
For the best flavour, plant sage in full sun in moderately fertile, well-drained soil. Dig a hole slightly bigger than the root ball and position the plant so the top of the roots are level with the soil. Firm down gently and water in well.
