Product description

Commonly known as Garden Sage, Salvia BumbleBlue offers intense colour and interest from late spring to early summer. Tall purple stems reach from a mound of green foliage to produce spires of vibrant violet blue flowers that are incredibly popular with bees and other pollinators.

This clump forming perennial grows well in most sunny spots and requires little maintenance to remain healthy and attractive. Deadheading spent flowers will help promote new blooms and prolong the flowering period.

Salvia BumbleBlue is relatively hardy and can withstand cold temperatures but may need a helping hand if the soil is likely to get very wet over the winter months. This is a versatile perennial that works well in flower beds, borders and containers. It is also popular for flower cuttings to arrange or dry.

Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only - The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

Deadhead spent flowers regularly to encourage new blooms and extend the flowering season.

How to Water

Water Salvia deeply when the soil feels dry to the touch. Ensure the soil is well-drained to prevent waterlogging. Once established, Salvia is drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional watering during hot, dry periods.

How to Plant

Plant Salvia in a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball and position the plant. Fill in the hole with soil and water well. Space plants 30-45cm apart, depending on the variety.
