Product description

Salvia Hot Lips is part of the Salvia genus, which is also a member of the mint family, Lamiaceae. This stunning, evergreen perennial has bicoloured, red and white flowers. It also bears dark green foliage with a lovely scent that is an attraction for bees and other pollinators. Positioning the plant in your borders, plant displays, pots or containers is guaranteed to enhance those areas of your garden.

Commonly known as Sage, this plant will grow to an ultimate height of 0.9m and spread of 0.6m. It is also very easy to care for. Place it in full sunlight and moist, well-drained soil, although it will tolerate most soil types. In terms of watering, only do so when the soil is dry to touch, as it can withstand small periods of drought.

Please Note: Images are for illustrative purposes only. Some plants may be supplied in their dormant state if purchased during that period later in the year. Fresh growth will then return in the following Spring.

Instructions

Top Tip

Deadhead spent flowers regularly to encourage new blooms and extend the flowering season.

How to Water

Water Salvia deeply when the soil feels dry to the touch. Ensure the soil is well-drained to prevent waterlogging. Once established, Salvia is drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional watering during hot, dry periods.

How to Plant

Plant Salvia in a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball and position the plant. Fill in the hole with soil and water well. Space plants 30-45cm apart, depending on the variety.
