Product description
Known more commonly as Pheasants Tail Grass, Stipa arundinacea is a colourful grassy shrub that provides year long colour, forming a fountain-like structure comprising slender evergreen foliage. The leaves initially present as green, but soon develop additional colours like red and yellow, as well as variegated streaks and spots. During the colder months, the colours darken, providing attractive foliage throughout the year and can also grow sprays of airy flower heads during late summer.
A hardy plant, this variety can thrive in any type of soil and can be placed in either sunny or shaded areas of your garden.

Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Cut back spent foliage in early spring to make way for new growth. Stipa plants thrive with minimal care, adding movement and texture to your garden.
How to Water
Water Stipa plants regularly during dry periods, but allow the soil to dry out between waterings. They are drought-tolerant once established but benefit from deep watering in hot weather. Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.
How to Plant
Plant Stipa in well-draining soil with full sun. Dig a hole large enough to spread the roots, then backfill with soil. Space plants 45-60cm apart to allow for their graceful, arching growth. Water gently after planting to settle the soil.
