These double flowers are pea-like in shape and vibrant yellow in colour. They are highly fragranced with a strong coconut-like scent.
Also known as Double-Blossomed Furze, this is a low maintenance shrub that is easy to grow and look after. It is native to the UK, so is hardy to harsh winter temperatures. Ulex Europaeus is also drought tolerant once established. It prefers a sunny spot and flourishes in light, well-draining, slightly acidic soil.

Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Prune Ulex after flowering to maintain its shape and encourage bushier growth. Be cautious of its spiny branches and wear gloves when handling the plant.
How to Water
Water Ulex sparingly, as it is drought-tolerant once established. During the first growing season, water occasionally to help roots establish. Avoid overwatering, as Ulex prefers dry conditions and is prone to root rot in wet soil.
How to Plant
Choose a sunny spot with well-draining soil, as Ulex thrives in poor, sandy, or rocky soil. Dig a hole large enough for the root ball, place the plant, and backfill with soil. Water thoroughly after planting. Space plants 90-150cm apart for proper air circulation.
