Product description

Commonly known as Tall Speedwell, Veronica First Lady is a compact perennial with mounds of long lance shaped leaves yielding clusters of tiny white flowers on elegant tall stems. Foliage is dark green from spring through to autumn with the flowers blooming in summer.

Veronica First Lady is ideal for flower beds, borders, rock gardens and containers. The blooms also work well for flower arranging and can be brought indoors to enjoy. Bees, butterflies and other pollinators are drawn to Speedwell.

This clump forming perennial grows well in almost any soil and, other than cutting back stems to encourage regrowth, requires little maintenance to maintain good health and an attractive appearance. The plant is fully hardy, easy to grow and will reach its ultimate height and spread within 2-5 years.

Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only - The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

Deadhead spent blooms on Veronica plants to encourage continuous flowering throughout the season. This keeps the plant looking tidy and promotes longer bloom times.

How to Water

Water Veronica plants regularly to keep the soil evenly moist during the first growing season. Once established, they’re moderately drought-tolerant but benefit from consistent watering during dry periods. Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.

How to Plant

Choose a sunny spot with well-draining soil. Dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball, place the plant, and backfill with soil. Firm gently and water thoroughly. Space plants 30-45cm apart to allow for spreading. Mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
