Product description

Also known as Broom, Cytisus Hollandia is a charming deciduous to semi-evergreen garden shrub, producing colour interest all year round. In late spring, the plant bears highly fragrant reddish-pink flowers. These petite blooms are a magnet for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, turning the shrub into a hive of activity.

This is a low maintenance shrub that is easy to care for. It prefers a sunny spot in well-drained, acidic soil. Broom doesn’t cope well with overly wet soil, so ensure the area doesn’t get waterlogged in poor weather. It also doesn’t tolerate transplanting, so choose your spot carefully and avoid moving it again if possible.

Perfect for growing in beds, borders, pots, and containers, Cytisus Hollandia is drought tolerant and hardy to UK temperatures.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

Cytisus thrives in poor, well-drained soil and requires minimal fertilization. Avoid heavy pruning, as it may reduce flowering.

How to Water

Water Cytisus plants regularly during dry periods but avoid overwatering. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings, as these plants are drought-tolerant once established. Water at the base to keep the foliage dry.

How to Plant

Plant Cytisus in well-draining, sandy or loamy soil. Choose a sunny spot with good air circulation. Dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball, place the plant, and backfill with soil. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch to retain moisture.
