Product description
Alstroemeria are stunning flowering plants that are native to South America. There are many colourful varieties created with intense breeding practices. Colorita Lisa is a wonderful yellow cut flowers variety that makes a popular garden plant. It is short in height and compact in growth but produces large flowers that last long until autumn. It is suitable for garden containers planted on a patio where it will display striking colours throughout summer.
What makes Colorita Lisa an interesting garden plant is the fact that it has a pretty long flowering period. It produces masses of large funnel-shaped flowers in late summer and autumn. The centre of the flower is of deeper yellowish colour. These bright blooms are backed by beautiful green leaves that emerge every year in spring.
The earlier varieties of Alstroemeria required more space in the garden as they grew tall. Colorita Lisa will grow short and still provide a colourful floral display, that many other larger flowering plants cannot. Plant it in a well-drained soil that is kept moist in the dry season. It prefers morning sun and shade in afternoon.
It is a less hardy plant and needs protection against cold in winter. Remove the stems by pulling them off carefully after the flowers fade, to encourage new blooms. Apply a generous feed of fertiliser every spring to enhance blooming performance.
Use Colorita Lisa in a container pot as a standalone garden specimen or group it in a mixed planting to create an elated and heart-warming display. Colorita Lisa is a perfect plant to brighten up a garden bed and its flowers are used in bouquets.
Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.
