Arbutus unedo rubra is a small evergreen tree with pink flowers and distinctive bright red fruits. The leathery green leaves and textured reddish-brown bark remain features all year round. The pretty urn shaped flowers emerge in Autumn against a backdrop of leathery foliage. Deep-green leaves can be seen all-year round.
The Strawberry Tree can be grown as either a tree or a bush, due to its versatility it is suitable for a variety of different settings. The tree is fully hardy making it wind resistant, making it ideal for coastal areas where it will be exposed to the elements but also perfect for urban settings also.
The Arbutus unedo rubra produces beautiful small urn-shaped deep, rose pink flowers that appear in the late Autumn. Alongside the red ‘strawberry’ like red fruits which take 12 months to ripen as the grow from the previous year’s flowers.
