Product description
Alocasia Curly Bambino - otherwise known as Elephant Ear or African Mask Plant - is a striking houseplant flaunting eye-catching, wavy-edged dark green leaves with cream veining. The tinted leaves are also flushed purple on the underside. The plant is much smaller than other Alocasia varieties and is the perfect option for anyone who may not have the space for a larger houseplant.
As a rainforest native, Alocasia Curly Bambino will benefit from a humid environment and bright, indirect sunlight. It should be turned regularly to allow even growth and avoid leaning. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged by watering little but often.
This houseplant is an excellent choice for any plant lover, as it is relatively easy to care for as long as it is kept in the correct conditions. It would be well suited to a bathroom or kitchen thanks to its miniature size, but it would also look great on a desk or shelf as long as it gets enough light and a good misting regularly.
It’s not unusual to give your plant a name… so don’t hesitate to choose one that you think suits the plant! Try naming your plant with the first name or word that you think of when you look at it - that’s how we ended up with an orchid named Clover and spider plant called Joseph.
House Plant Size Guide
House plants come in a wide array of shapes and sizes depending on the variety and maturity of the plant.
6cm/12cm/15cm/19cm/23cm nursery pots are the most common size of pot that they are sold in. This measurement is the diameter at the top of the pot.
12cm potted plants are the most popular providing great value for money and an instant impact. Larger plants that come in pots of 20cm+ are great for making a statement in any room and can represent years of growth to get to that level of maturity and size.

Top Tip
To keep your Alocasia healthy, place it in a humid environment or use a humidifier to replicate its tropical origins. Clean the leaves occasionally with a damp cloth to remove dust and enhance its striking appearance. Rotate the pot every few weeks to ensure even growth, as the plant will lean towards the light. Proper care will reward you with lush, dramatic foliage year-round.
How to Water
Water Alocasia regularly to maintain consistently moist soil, but avoid letting it become waterlogged, as this can lead to root rot. Allow the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry out between waterings to prevent overwatering. During the growing season, it may require more frequent watering, while in winter, reduce the frequency to match its slower growth rate. Use lukewarm, filtered water to mimic the plant’s natural environment.
How to Plant
To plant Alocasia, select a pot with adequate drainage and fill it with a well-draining, nutrient-rich potting mix. Position the plant so the root ball sits level with the surface of the soil, ensuring the crown is not buried. Loosen the roots gently before planting, then backfill with soil and firm it lightly. Water thoroughly to settle the soil, and place the pot in a spot with bright, indirect light, as Alocasia thrives in warm, humid conditions.
