Product description

Caladium Pliage is a small houseplant with relatively large, and very attractive leaves for its size. Its white leaves are veined all over with a deep green, creating a beautiful hand-painted effect. This plant may be small, but is sure to be an eye-catching addition to any indoor space.

Caladium Pliage is shade tolerant and will do well in an area that doesn't get a lot of light. This plant prefers some humidity so it will appreciate a regular misting. Water little but often, allowing only the top layer of soil to dry out.

The ornamental leaves of this Caladium make this a perfect houseplant for any plant lover, adding some uniqueness to their collection. The indoor plant's patterned leaves and bright colour scheme will brighten up any room in the house.

It’s not unusual to give your plant a name… so don’t hesitate to choose one that you think suits the plant! Try naming your plant with the first name or word that you think of when you look at it - that’s how we ended up with an orchid named Clover and spider plant called Joseph.

Instructions

Top Tip

Caladiums thrive in high humidity, so consider misting the foliage or using a humidifier if your indoor environment is dry. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser during the growing season to support lush, vibrant leaves. As the plant enters dormancy in cooler months, cut back watering and allow the bulbs to rest before replanting the following spring. Proper care will reward you with stunning displays year after year.

How to Water

Water Caladiums consistently to maintain evenly moist soil without overwatering. During active growth, check the soil frequently and water when the top 2–3 cm feels dry. Reduce watering slightly in autumn as the plant begins to go dormant. Use lukewarm, filtered water if possible, as Caladiums are sensitive to cold or mineral-heavy water. Ensure proper drainage to prevent root rot.

How to Plant

To plant Caladiums, select a warm, partially shaded spot with well-draining, rich, and slightly acidic soil. If planting bulbs, position them with the pointed end facing upward and cover with 2–3 cm of soil. Space bulbs or plants about 30–45 cm apart to allow their vibrant foliage to spread. Water thoroughly after planting and place in a location protected from strong winds and direct sunlight for best results.
