Product description
Baby Saxifraga Variegata is a small house plant with veined leaves, which are dark green, flushed with a slight hint of deep pink. The edges are trimmed with delicate white and pale pink, adding a splash of colour to this small but might plant!
These plants will grow best in bright, indirect sunlight, with a small amount of direct sunlight each day to keep the colours looking vibrant. The soil should be kept moist but never waterlogged, and they will grow well in regular household humidity.
The miniature size of this baby plant makes it perfect for smaller homes and spaces. It would look fabulous in the living room, as bedroom plants or bathroom plants, but a baby plant is also great as a desk plant to brighten up an office, or to brighten up a small shelf. The miniature size of this baby plant makes it perfect for smaller homes and spaces. It’s not unusual to give your plant a name… so don’t hesitate to choose one that you think suits the plant! Try naming your plant with the first name or word that you think of when you look at it - that’s how we ended up with an orchid named Clover and spider plant called Joseph.
House Plant Size Guide
House plants come in a wide array of shapes and sizes depending on the variety and maturity of the plant.
6cm/12cm/15cm/19cm/23cm nursery pots are the most common size of pot that they are sold in. This measurement is the diameter at the top of the pot.
12cm potted plants are the most popular providing great value for money and an instant impact. Larger plants that come in pots of 20cm+ are great for making a statement in any room and can represent years of growth to get to that level of maturity and size.

Top Tip
Saxifraga thrives when grown in rock gardens, crevices, or alpine troughs where its natural trailing habit is showcased. To encourage compact growth and prevent legginess, trim back spent flower stalks after blooming. Adding a layer of grit around the base can prevent moisture from accumulating and enhance the plant’s aesthetic appeal. Rotate pots occasionally to ensure even growth if grown indoors.
How to Water
Saxifraga requires moderate watering, especially during its first growing season to establish strong roots. Allow the top layer of soil to dry out slightly between waterings, as overly wet conditions can lead to root rot. During dry spells, provide additional water, particularly if the plant is in full sun. Water early in the morning to reduce the risk of fungal issues and avoid wetting the foliage.
How to Plant
To plant Saxifraga, select a spot with well-draining soil and partial shade, though some species thrive in full sun if the soil remains cool. Enrich the soil with grit or sand to ensure adequate drainage, especially if planting in heavy soil. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball, gently position the plant, and backfill the soil while ensuring the crown remains above ground level. Space plants 15–20 cm apart to allow for spreading. Water thoroughly after planting to help settle the soil.
