Product description
A dwarf variety of the always popular Japanese barberry, the berberis thunbergii ‘Admiration’ is a beautiful deciduous shrub with vivid, showy bright orange-red leaves which gain thin yellow margins in the Summer when under full sunlight. This plant will sometimes bloom small light sprays of inconspicuous pink flower above and throughout the foliage in late Spring and through to the Summer. A hardy and generally easy to maintain shrub which is great for small beds and shrub borders.
Plant in dry to moderately moist, well-drained soils. Keep in full or partial sun. Full sun is recommended to bring out the best leaf colour. Drought and pollution tolerant once established but susceptible to soggy areas and waterlogging.

Top Tip
Berbaris plants are covered in spines, so always protect yourself with gloves and long sleeves when tending them.
How to Water
Water generously and regularly for the first growing season. After this, berbaris is relatively drought tolerant and only needs to be watered during particularly dry spells.
How to Plant
Berberis grows well in most moist but well-draining soil types and thrives in full sun or partial shade. Prepare the ground, digging in some garden compost and position the plant in the hole before backfilling and watering in well.
