Product description

This early spring-flowering crocus is perfect for naturalising in grass. It soon increases to form elegant colonies of slender flowers, which open in February or March the moment the sun appears. The delicate flowers are somewhat deceptive, since it stands up well in wind and rain.

Instructions

Top Tip

Cover the area with a layer of horticultural grit or broken eggshells to stop snails and slugs devouring new shoots as they emerge.

How to Water

Water thoroughly when planting. After this, crocuses planted in the ground should only need to be watered during dry spells. Bulbs grown in pots and containers will need watering more regularly to prevent the soil from drying out.

How to Plant

Crocuses are versatile bulbs that can be planted in lawns, beds, borders, or containers. Choose a spot in full sun or partial shade with well-draining soil and use a bulb planter or trowel to dig small holes 7-10cm apart. Plant one bulb to each hole at a depth of 10-15cm with the pointed end facing upwards. Backfill the holes, firm down the soil, and water in well.
