Top Tip
Prune Euonymus in late spring or summer to maintain its shape and encourage compact growth. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches to promote airflow and reduce the risk of disease. For variegated varieties, trim any green shoots that revert to maintain the plant’s decorative appearance. With minimal effort, Euonymus can be a versatile and elegant feature in gardens, borders, or hedging.
How to Water
Water Euonymus deeply after planting to help establish strong roots. During the first growing season, water regularly, especially in dry or warm weather. Once established, Euonymus is relatively drought-tolerant and requires only occasional watering, typically during prolonged dry spells. Be cautious of overwatering, as it thrives in well-drained soil. Water early in the morning or late in the evening to reduce evaporation and keep the roots hydrated.
How to Plant
To plant Euonymus, select a sunny or partially shaded spot with well-draining soil that can be neutral to slightly alkaline. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and just as deep. Soak the root ball in water prior to planting, then position the plant so the top of the root ball sits level with the soil surface. Backfill the hole, firm the soil gently, and water thoroughly. Apply a layer of mulch to retain soil moisture and keep weeds at bay, ensuring it does not touch the base of the plant.
