Product description
Geum Flora plena Blazing Sunset is an eye-catching herbaceous perennial ideal for adding dramatic colour to beds and borders. Also known as Avens, these scarlet-red flowers bloom from the first year when sown early enough. They burst into life from July to September and are a magnet for pollinators, making them a striking addition to a bee and butterfly garden.
Sow Geum seeds in trays from February to July and store under glass at 18-20C. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into pots and acclimatise gradually before planting outside from May, when all risk of frost has passed. Choose a spot in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-draining soil and allow 30cm between plants. Water these outdoor plants regularly until they are firmly established and deadhead spent blooms to promote further flowering.
