Product description

Grape Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic wine making cultivar. However, the fruit can also be enjoyed fresh from the vine and can be sweetened to make desserts and soft drinks. The grapes have a strong flavour with notes of blackcurrant.

As a late-ripening variety, Grape Cabernet Sauvignon thrives outdoors in milder parts of the country. In other areas, these grapes are ideal for growing under the cover of a greenhouse or polytunnel, where temperatures are better suited to late harvesting.

Grape Cabernet Sauvignon is relatively low-maintenance and easy to look after. It flourishes in a sheltered, sunny spot in well-drained soil and benefits from canes or other supports to climb.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

Prune grape vines in late winter to encourage healthy growth and improve fruit production.

How to Water

Water grapes regularly during dry spells, but ensure the soil drains well to avoid root rot. Water deeply but infrequently to encourage deep root growth. Reduce watering once the grapes start to ripen.

How to Plant

Plant grape vines in well-drained soil with full sun. Dig a hole large enough for the roots and space well apart. Place the plant in the hole, cover with soil, and firm it in. Water thoroughly to help establish roots.
