Product description
Hebe ‘Vernicosa’ is a highly versatile shrub native to New Zealand. A compact, evergreen shrub with attractive glossy, dark green foliage and small, white to pale blue flowers appear around the tips of the stems in the early Summer contrasting nicely with the darker leaves and attracting butterflies, bees and other pollinators into the garden. A perfect choice for enhancing garden displays or used as low informal hedging, edging for mixed borders or in rockeries. It also works very well in pots and containers with its rounded habit making it very easy to manage.
A low maintenance plant. Grow in moist, well-drained soil and keep in full to partial sun. Tolerant of coastal salty air but will require protection from frosts and high winds in the Winter months.
Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Prune lightly after flowering to encourage bushy growth and maintain the plant’s shape. Avoid heavy pruning, as Hebes may struggle to regrow from older wood.
How to Water
Water Hebe thoroughly after planting, then keep the soil evenly moist during the first season. Once established, they are drought-tolerant and require only occasional watering during dry periods.
How to Plant
Plant Hebe in well-draining soil in a sunny or lightly shaded spot, sheltered from strong winds. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball, place the plant at the same depth it was in its pot, and backfill with soil. Space plants 60-90cm apart for full growth.
