Product description
Pea Meteor is so easy to grow that you’ll wonder why you didn’t start growing your own peas years ago. Growing into dwarf climbing plants, the seeds can be sown directly outdoors. Meteor Pea plants flower in summer and the small white blooms develop into delightful pea pods that can be shelled to reveal a row of sweet, tender peas inside.
These peas are best enjoyed fresh from the pod. However, they freeze well so the high yield can be easily preserved for cooking throughout the year. They are bursting with goodness including plenty of nutrients such as folic acid, Pro-Vitamin A and Vitamins C and B1.
Sow Meteor Pea seeds in March to April or from October to November for an earlier spring start. Plant seedlings out from April to May, allowing 10cm between plants and 60cm between rows. Harvest from May to July.
Growing to 45cm, these annual outdoor plants last for one harvesting season. They prefer a sheltered, sunny spot in moist but well-draining soil and benefit from netting to climb up. Picking pea pods regularly helps encourage a continuous crop.
