Product description
Ribes 'Jonkheer Van Tets' ornamental trees present lovely palmately lobed leaves and small vibrant berries. During Spring and Summer, the tree will show lush green/grey foliage before getting overrun with lovely redcurrant clusters! These deciduous trees are fairly low maintenance and only require light pruning towards the end of the flourishing season.
Ribes plants are fairly low maintenance, fast growing specimens which thrive in moist, well-drained soils. Perfect for beginners, make sure to plant in either partial shade or full sun to ensure its best growth. Water regularly until established, then just occasionally when settled in. Due to being a deciduous tree, they will lose their leaves as the dormant stage appears.
Please Note: Images are for illustrative purposes only and designed to be a representation of the item(s) being sold. Depending on seasonality, deciduous plants may be supplied in their dormant state and without leaves. Plants may also be pruned back, lower than stated heights, to encourage new growth.

Top Tip
Prune Ribes annually in late winter or early spring to encourage healthy growth and improve air circulation. Remove any dead, damaged, or overcrowded branches to maintain an open shape. Ribes benefit from a balanced fertiliser applied in early spring to boost flowering and fruit production. These hardy shrubs thrive when sheltered from strong winds and can be used as ornamental hedges or incorporated into wildlife-friendly garden designs.
How to Water
To plant Ribes, choose a sunny or lightly shaded location with well-draining soil enriched with organic matter. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and deep enough to allow the crown of the plant to sit at soil level. Space multiple plants at least 120–150 cm apart to give them room to grow. Backfill the hole gently, firm the soil, and water thoroughly. Apply a layer of organic mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds, ensuring it doesn’t touch the base of the plant.
