Product description

Squash 'Crown Prince F1' is a robust winter squash variety known for its striking grey-blue skin and rich, sweet orange flesh. The large, flat fruits are highly valued for their exceptional flavour, making them perfect for roasting, soups, and other hearty autumn and winter dishes. 'Crown Prince F1' is a vigorous grower, producing heavy yields of these attractive squashes, which store well, allowing you to enjoy their delicious flavour throughout the winter months.

To grow Squash 'Crown Prince F1', start by sowing the seeds indoors from April to May, planting them 2.5cm deep in seed compost. Once the seedlings have developed and the risk of frost has passed, transplant them outdoors from late May to June. Space the plants 100cm apart in a sunny, sheltered spot with well-drained, fertile soil. The plants thrive in full sun and benefit from plenty of space to spread, ensuring they produce large, healthy fruits.

For best results, water the plants regularly, especially during dry periods, and provide a mulch to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds. As the fruits begin to form, it’s important to support their growth by keeping the soil consistently moist and feeding with a balanced fertiliser. Harvest the squashes from September to October when the fruits are fully matured and the skin has hardened. With proper care, 'Crown Prince F1' will reward you with a bountiful harvest of delicious winter squash, perfect for adding flavour and nutrition to your vegetable garden.
