Product description
Thymus 'Capitatus' is a beautiful & low maintenance variety of evergreen tree, with a stunning green foliage and stunning clusters of purple/pink flowers. The hardy specimen is grown with a standard straight stem - the ideal choice for adding some height to small gardens, patios or border displays.
Native to Mediterranean Europe & Turkey, the Thymus species are known for their rising stems and narrow, dotted green leaves. These trees are ideal to position in small gardens, patios, borders, mixed containers or next to ponds and pathways. Due to being a evergreen tree, their glossy green leaves will remain all year round!

Top Tip
Trim Thymus regularly after flowering to encourage fresh growth and maintain a compact shape. Remove any woody or leggy stems to revitalise the plant and enhance its ornamental and culinary value. Avoid heavy pruning into old wood, as this may reduce new growth. Thymus thrives with good airflow and minimal competition, so keep the area around the plant tidy and weed-free for optimal health.
How to Water
Water Thymus deeply after planting and regularly during the first few weeks to help the roots establish. Once established, these plants are drought-tolerant and require minimal watering. Allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings, as overwatering can lead to root rot. In hot, dry periods, provide additional moisture, but avoid leaving the soil overly saturated. Early morning or evening watering is ideal to reduce evaporation and ensure hydration.
How to Plant
To plant Thymus, choose a sunny location with well-draining, slightly alkaline to neutral soil. Dig a hole twice as wide and slightly shallower than the root ball, ensuring the top of the root ball sits level with the soil surface. Space plants 20–30 cm apart to allow for spreading growth. Gently backfill the hole, firm the soil, and water thoroughly to settle the roots. Add a layer of gravel or sand around the base to improve drainage, especially in heavier soils, and to reduce weed growth.
