Product description

A reasonably hardy evergreen shrub with a bushy growing habit and lovely foliage colour throughout the year, the Viburnum tinus 'Variegatum' or Laurustinus is a variegated variety as the name suggests. The leaves ovate and mind-green with cream-yellow margins year-round. The plant carries flat clusters of small pink buds which bloom into cream-white flowers from late Winter through to Spring. The flowers are followed by small black berries.

Plant in any moderately fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil. Can be planted in any light, sunny or shaded. Water occasionally. Tolerant of coastal areas but may require a sheltered position to protect from harsher weather. Avoid eating berries as they can upset the stomach.

Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may, therefore, differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. This plant will be supplied in a grower's pot.

Instructions

Top Tip

Prune viburnum after flowering to maintain shape and encourage new growth. Remove dead or damaged branches to promote better air circulation and a healthier plant.

How to Water

Water viburnum deeply and regularly during the first growing season to establish roots. Once established, they’re drought-tolerant but benefit from occasional watering during dry spells. Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.

How to Plant

Choose a sunny or partially shaded spot with well-draining, fertile soil. Dig a hole twice as wide and the same depth as the root ball. Place the plant, backfill with soil, and firm gently. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch to retain moisture. Space plants 120-180cm apart.
