Product description

Weigela Camouflage are hardy plants for the garden, with masses of summer flowers and unique, variegated foliage. Whilst other varieties of Weigela have been considered less interesting in the past due to the lack of foliage, this variety combines bright, vibrant, ruby red flowers with bushy, variegated foliage in shades of green and deep purple, which can appear almost black.

These garden plants are an excellent choice for planting in containers or adding to mixed borders to fill empty space, since they will tolerate most soils and light conditions. The foliage and flowers bloom for a long period, providing interest in the garden for most of the year.

Depending on seasonality, deciduous plants may be supplied in their dormant state and without leaves. Plants may also be pruned back, lower than stated heights, to encourage new growth.

Instructions

Top Tip

Prune weigela in early spring after flowering to remove spent blooms and shape the plant. This encourages healthy growth and more vibrant blooms the following season.

How to Water

Water weigela plants deeply, especially during dry periods, to keep the soil moist but not soggy. Once established, they are somewhat drought-tolerant. Water at the base and avoid wetting the leaves, which can cause fungal diseases.

How to Plant

Choose a sunny or partially shaded spot with well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice as wide and just as deep as the root ball. Place the plant, backfill with soil, and firm gently. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch to retain moisture. Space plants 90-120cm apart.
