Product description

Zamioculcas Raven is an indoor plant that is notoriously easy to care for and look after. The deep green foliage is tinged with a black colouring, which gives the plant its common name of Black ZZ Plant. The deeply coloured foliage stands upright on most occasions, with each leaf showing that stark colour palette throughout. The plant will purify the air, adding many great benefits to the indoor setting it is placed in by removing harmful pollutants and unwanted toxins from the air. Placing the plant is an open book, requiring the conditions aren't complete darkness or full sun, so feel free to be imaginative with this. In watering, the plant will require very little. Once or twice a month will suffice, with the plants ability to hold water pulling through well.

Please Note: Images are for illustrative purposes only and designed to be a representation of the item(s) being sold. Depending on seasonality, deciduous plants may be supplied in their dormant state and without leaves. Plants may also be pruned back, lower than stated heights, to encourage new growth.

Instructions

Top Tip

Wipe the glossy leaves of your Zamioculcas regularly with a damp cloth to remove dust and enhance its natural shine. To encourage even growth, rotate the pot every few weeks so all sides receive equal light exposure. If you notice leggy growth or yellowing leaves, assess the lighting and watering conditions to maintain this plant’s hardy and attractive appearance.

How to Water

Zamioculcas is highly drought-tolerant and requires infrequent watering. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, then water thoroughly, letting excess moisture drain away. Avoid overwatering, as the rhizomes can rot in soggy conditions. In winter, reduce watering to once every few weeks, as the plant’s growth slows. Always ensure the plant is not left sitting in standing water.

How to Plant

To plant Zamioculcas, select a pot with drainage holes and fill it with a well-draining potting mix, such as one designed for succulents or cacti. Position the plant so its rhizomes are just below the soil surface, ensuring it is not buried too deeply. Place the pot in a bright spot with indirect light or partial shade, as the plant can tolerate low light but thrives with moderate lighting. Re-pot only when the roots outgrow the container, as Zamioculcas prefers being slightly root-bound.
