Product description

Asparagus Plumosus is a small, fern-like plant with feathery, green foliage creating a light and airy appearance. Despite its fern-like appearance, this plant is actually part of the lily family.

Unlike a lot of other houseplants, this one is not too picky about its watering schedule. It should be watered regularly throughout the growing season, and sparingly over the winter months. Asparagus Plumosus does not need to be kept in a humid environment, although if the leaves begin to brown it will benefit from some misting or being sat beside the shower.

This houseplant is an excellent choice for any plant lover since it is low maintenance and very easy to grow. Its miniature size means it’s perfect for anyone with smaller spaces to fill, whether it be a smaller living room or hallway, or a desk of shelf.

It’s not unusual to give your plant a name… so don’t hesitate to choose one that you think suits the plant! Try naming your plant with the first name or word that you think of when you look at it - that’s how we ended up with an orchid named Clover and spider plant called Joseph.

Instructions

Top Tip

Mist the delicate foliage of Asparagus regularly to maintain humidity and keep its fronds vibrant. Place the plant away from draughts or direct sunlight, as these conditions can damage its soft, feathery leaves. Rotate the pot occasionally to ensure even growth and maintain its attractive, airy shape. With the right care, this elegant plant will make a striking addition to any space.

How to Water

Water Asparagus regularly to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry out slightly between waterings. During active growth, increase watering frequency, but reduce it in cooler months when growth slows. Use filtered or rainwater if possible, as this plant prefers water with low mineral content. Ensure the pot drains well to prevent root rot.

How to Plant

To plant Asparagus, use a pot with good drainage and fill it with a well-draining, nutrient-rich potting mix. Soak the root ball in water before planting to ensure hydration. Dig a hole slightly wider and shallower than the root ball, place the plant in position, and backfill with soil. Firm the soil gently and water thoroughly to settle it. Place the pot in a spot with bright, indirect light to encourage healthy, lush growth.
