Product description

Baby Hoya Kerrii Variegata, also commonly known as Valentine’s Hoya, Hoya Heart, or the Sweetheart Vine, is a small house plant with heart-shaped, succulent, green leaves which are edged with creamy white. This baby plant will arrive with just one heart-shaped leaf, making it the perfect plant for all the tiniest spaces in your home.

Place your Baby Hoya Kerrii Variegata in a spot where it will receive plenty of bright but indirect sunlight and allow the soil to dry out between watering. They are incredibly drought-tolerant plants thanks to their water-storing leaves. Generally, if the leaves still look plump, the plant does not need water, but if they are beginning to wrinkle, it’s a sign that it needs watering.

The miniature size of this baby plant makes it perfect for smaller homes and spaces. It would look fabulous in the living room, as bedroom plants or bathroom plants, but a baby plant is also great as a desk plant to brighten up an office, or to brighten up a small shelf.

It’s not unusual to give your plant a name… so don’t hesitate to choose one that you think suits the plant! Try naming your plant with the first name or word that you think of when you look at it - that’s how we ended up with an orchid named Clover and spider plant called Joseph.

Instructions

Top Tip

Hoya thrives in a warm, humid environment, making it an ideal choice for bathrooms or spaces with added humidity. Avoid moving the plant frequently, as Hoyas dislike being disturbed and may take time to adjust. Encourage blooms by allowing the plant to become slightly root-bound and avoiding cutting off the spent flower stalks, as they may rebloom. With minimal care, Hoya can reward you with stunning, fragrant flowers and glossy, vibrant foliage.

How to Water

Water Hoya moderately, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. During the active growing season, water every 1–2 weeks, depending on the humidity and light conditions, and reduce watering during winter. Always ensure excess water drains freely, as Hoya plants are highly sensitive to waterlogged soil. Use lukewarm, filtered water if possible to avoid mineral build-up that can affect the plant's health.

How to Plant

To plant Hoya, choose a pot with excellent drainage and fill it with a light, well-draining potting mix, such as one designed for orchids or a mix enriched with perlite. Position the plant so the base of the stem sits at the same level as in its original container, taking care not to bury it too deeply. Backfill with soil, firm lightly, and water sparingly. Place the pot in a spot with bright, indirect light to promote healthy growth and encourage flowering.
