Product description
Maranta Leuconeura Amabilis is a baby houseplant with showy foliage. Its leaves have a lighter green base, striped with dark green, giving off a very eye-catching, hand-painted effect.
Place your Maranta Leuconeura Red Stripe in bright, indirect light and water regularly, keeping the soil moist during the spring and summer months. You should also mist the plant daily and water less regularly during the winter months.
Baby plants are excellent for anyone with smaller spaces to fill, and they make the perfect gift plant too! This is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a statement plant or a little splash of colour. This Maranta is also considered as a Prayer Plant, because it’s leaves fold at night and reopen again in the morning.
It’s not unusual to give your plant a name… so don’t hesitate to choose one that you think suits the plant! Try naming your plant with the first name or word that you think of when you look at it - that’s how we ended up with an orchid named Clover and spider plant called Joseph.
House Plant Size Guide
House plants come in a wide array of shapes and sizes depending on the variety and maturity of the plant.
6cm/12cm/15cm/19cm/23cm nursery pots are the most common size of pot that they are sold in. This measurement is the diameter at the top of the pot.
12cm potted plants are the most popular providing great value for money and an instant impact. Larger plants that come in pots of 20cm+ are great for making a statement in any room and can represent years of growth to get to that level of maturity and size.

Top Tip
Maranta thrives in high humidity, so mist its leaves regularly or place it near a humidifier to replicate its natural tropical environment. Clean the leaves gently with a damp cloth to remove dust and allow the striking patterns to shine. Rotate the pot every couple of weeks to ensure even light exposure and promote balanced growth. With proper care, Maranta will remain a vibrant and eye-catching addition to any indoor space.
How to Water
Water Maranta consistently, keeping the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Check the top 2–3 cm of soil and water when it feels dry to the touch. During the growing season, water approximately once a week, reducing the frequency in winter when the plant’s growth slows. Use filtered or rainwater whenever possible, as Maranta is sensitive to the chemicals in tap water, which can cause leaf tips to brown.
How to Plant
To plant Maranta, choose a pot with excellent drainage and fill it with a nutrient-rich, well-draining potting mix, such as one designed for tropical plants. Carefully remove the plant from its container, loosen the roots slightly, and position it so the base of the stem sits level with the soil. Backfill gently, firm the soil lightly, and water thoroughly to settle. Place the pot in a spot with bright, indirect light, avoiding direct sunlight that can scorch its delicate leaves.
