Ceanothus 'Blue Sapphire' is a lovely type of Californian lilac, which are known for their low maintenance and beautiful clusters of small, deep blue flowers which bloom during the Spring through to Summertime. Its glossy, dark green foliage contrast nicely with the bright flowers and gain a hint of bronze tinge as the seasons progress. A great choice for flower borders or informal hedging.
Plant in moist, well-drained soil and keep in full sun for the best flower colour. Tolerates drier soils and salty coastal winds but does require some protection from frost during the colder winter months.

The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

How to Water
Water regularly during the first few growing seasons. After this, ceanothus is drought tolerant and only needs to be watered during particularly dry spells. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings.
How to Plant
Choose a sheltered spot out of strong winds and plant ceanothus in full sun in well-draining soil. Dig a hole around twice as wide as the root ball and position the plant so the top of the root ball is at soil level. Backfill with soil and compost, gently firm down, and water in well.
