Product description

Ceanothus 'Edinburgh' is a variety of the popular Californian Lily, which are known to be an easy to grow and low maintenance option for any garden as well as bringing a vibrancy and colour to any area its planted thanks to its toothed, dark green leaves which contrast nicely as a background to the clusters of rich blue flowers which appear dotted throughout the foliage from Spring through to mid-Summer.

Plant in moist, well-drained soil and keep in full sun for the best flower colour. Tolerates drier soils and salty coastal winds but does require some protection from frost during the colder winter months.

Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. Ongoing plant maintenance within our nursery is essential, meaning some lines are pruned back at certain times of the year to encourage new growth.

Instructions

Top Tip

Provide a support to train the plant for more structured, formal appearance.

How to Water

Water regularly during the first few growing seasons. After this, ceanothus is drought tolerant and only needs to be watered during particularly dry spells. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings.

How to Plant

Choose a sheltered spot out of strong winds and plant ceanothus in full sun in well-draining soil. Dig a hole around twice as wide as the root ball and position the plant so the top of the root ball is at soil level. Backfill with soil and compost, gently firm down, and water in well.
