Product description
Choisya ternata 'Sundance' ornamental trees present lovely aromatic, palmately-lobed leaves and small flowers. During Spring and Summer, the tree will show lush green foliage before turning into vibrant golden and white colours! These evergreen trees are fairly low maintenance and only require light annual pruning after flourishing season is complete and regular watering during the hot months.
Having a recent 'RHS Award of Garden Merit', these trees are very popular in British gardens. They are best suited in small gardens, patios, borders or mixed containers. They also look fantastic next to ponds or pathways!

Top Tip
Prune Choisya lightly after flowering to maintain its shape and encourage fresh growth. Remove any dead or damaged branches, and trim spent blooms to promote a second flush of flowers. Mulch in early spring with well-rotted compost or bark chips to retain moisture and provide essential nutrients, ensuring the plant stays healthy and vibrant throughout the year.
How to Water
Water Choisya deeply and regularly during its first growing season to help establish strong roots. Once established, it is drought-tolerant and requires watering only during extended dry periods. Avoid overwatering, as it prefers slightly dry conditions. Water at the base of the plant in the early morning or late evening to reduce evaporation and minimise the risk of fungal diseases on the foliage.
How to Plant
To plant Choisya, choose a sunny or partially shaded spot with well-draining soil that is neutral to slightly alkaline. Dig a hole twice as wide and the same depth as the root ball, ensuring the crown of the plant sits level with the soil surface. Place the plant into the hole, backfill with soil, and firm gently to eliminate air pockets. Water thoroughly after planting and apply a layer of mulch around the base, keeping it clear of the stems to prevent rot. Space plants 1–1.5 metres apart for optimal growth and airflow.
