Product description

Also known as Broom, Cytisus Red Favourite is a hardy deciduous shrub for any area of the garden. Its upright, bushy growing habit makes it perfect for filling gaps in beds and borders, adding structure and height to complement other plants. Broom also grows well in pots and containers and is ideal for brightening the patio.

From late spring to early summer, Cytisus Red Favourite is decorated with small, sweet-pea shaped flowers in vibrant red and pink tones. These highly fragrant blooms are bursting with nectar, attracting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators to the garden.

Broom is a low maintenance shrub that is easy to grow. It prefers a sunny spot in well-drained soil and doesn’t tolerate its roots getting overly wet. Cytisus doesn’t like its roots being disturbed, so choose your spot carefully and avoid transplanting if possible.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

Cytisus thrives in poor, well-drained soil and requires minimal fertilization. Avoid heavy pruning, as it may reduce flowering.

How to Water

Water Cytisus plants regularly during dry periods but avoid overwatering. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings, as these plants are drought-tolerant once established. Water at the base to keep the foliage dry.

How to Plant

Plant Cytisus in well-draining, sandy or loamy soil. Choose a sunny spot with good air circulation. Dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball, place the plant, and backfill with soil. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch to retain moisture.
