Instructions
Top Tip
Prune Hibiscus annually in early spring to remove dead or damaged branches and encourage strong, healthy growth. Lightly shape the plant to maintain its form and maximise flowering potential. Feed with a balanced fertiliser in spring and mid-summer for vibrant blooms, and consider protecting the plant from frost in colder regions to ensure it thrives year-round.
How to Water
Water Hibiscus deeply after planting and keep the soil consistently moist during the first growing season to establish strong roots. Once established, water regularly during dry spells, especially in summer, as Hibiscus thrives in moist but not waterlogged conditions. Avoid allowing the soil to completely dry out, as this can stress the plant and affect flowering. Water in the morning or late afternoon to minimise evaporation and avoid wetting the foliage to reduce the risk of disease.
How to Plant
To plant Hibiscus, select a sunny, sheltered spot with well-draining soil enriched with organic matter. Dig a hole twice the width and slightly deeper than the root ball, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface. Backfill with soil, firm gently, and water thoroughly to help settle the roots. Space multiple plants at least 90–120 cm apart to allow room for growth. Add a layer of mulch around the base, keeping it clear of the stem, to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature.
