Product description

Phlox 'Famous Purple' is a stunning herbaceous perennial, celebrated for its clusters of vibrant purple flowers with a subtle white eye. These fragrant blooms appear on upright stems, making the plant an excellent choice for adding vertical interest to garden borders. Growing between 0.5 to 1 metre in height, this perennial forms a neat, columnar habit with dark green, lance-shaped foliage that contrasts beautifully with the vivid purple flowers. Blooming from July to September, this plant is perfect for adding long-lasting colour and fragrance to summer gardens, while also attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies.

Thriving in moist, well-drained soil, Phlox 'Famous Purple' prefers a sunny or partially shaded position. It benefits from regular watering, particularly during dry periods, to maintain healthy growth and extended blooming. The plant is easy to care for and responds well to deadheading, which promotes more flowers throughout the season. Its hardiness (H7) makes it resilient in severe winters, making it a reliable and attractive addition to UK gardens.

Instructions

Top Tip

Deadhead spent blooms regularly to encourage continuous flowering and maintain a tidy appearance.

How to Water

Water Phlox regularly, keeping the soil evenly moist, especially during dry spells. Avoid overhead watering to prevent disease. Once established, Phlox can tolerate moderate drought but prefers consistent moisture for optimal growth.

How to Plant

Plant Phlox in well-drained, fertile soil in a location that receives full sun to partial shade. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball, place the plant in, and backfill with soil. Space plants about 45cm apart to allow for growth.
