Product description
The Flowering Cherry tree, Prunus 'Pink Perfection', creates a delightful focal point in a garden. It offers masses of double flowers between April and May, ranging in a pink palette from pale candy floss to deeper pink-purple. The flowers open up from rounded red buds and have a lovely delicate frilly edge.
New foliage appears in spring behind the blossoms, contrasting in a warm bronze hue which deepens into a green over the summer. In autumn, the leaves turn to vibrant shades of yellow, orange and red and fall in the winter.
If you are looking for the perfect pink cherry blossom tree, this is it! The tree is full hardy and will tolerate most soil types apart from very wet or chalky soils. It it also tolerant of pollution, making it ideal for urban gardens. Grow if possible in full sun to get the most colourful spring and autumn displays.
Prunus 'Pink Perfection’ grows with an upright, spreading vase-form and has slender branches that become pendulous at their tips. It will reach a height of 5m and a spread of 3m in a 20 year period.
Plant the Flowering Cherry tree as an ornamental accent tree in a smaller garden. It will attract birds, insects and butterflies, bringing movement and sound into your living space. If you have a long driveway that looks bare and unloved, plant rows of Flowering Cherry trees along either side and you will soon have a fiesta of colour. This lovely tree holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.

Instructions
Top Tip
Prune your Prunus tree annually in midsummer to maintain its shape and remove any dead, damaged, or overcrowded branches. Avoid pruning during winter to minimise the risk of infection. For flowering varieties, prune immediately after blooming to encourage fresh growth and maximise next season's display. Regular maintenance will keep your tree healthy and looking its best year-round.
How to Water
Water your Prunus tree deeply after planting and consistently during its first growing season to help establish strong roots. Once established, the tree requires less frequent watering but should be watered during prolonged dry spells, especially in the summer months. Take care not to overwater, as Prunus trees dislike waterlogged conditions. Water early in the morning or late in the evening to minimise evaporation and ensure the roots can absorb the moisture effectively.
How to Plant
To plant a Prunus tree, choose a sunny or partially shaded position with fertile, well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and deep enough to accommodate it comfortably. Place the tree in the hole so that the root collar sits level with the soil surface, then backfill with a mixture of soil and organic matter, firming gently around the roots. Water thoroughly and apply a mulch layer around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds, keeping the mulch a few centimetres away from the trunk to prevent rot. Stake young trees for added support in windy areas.
