Product description
Prunus Royal Flame is a very new decorative cherry selection that mesmerizes with abundant, pure white fragrant flowers in spring. It is an upright tree with a pyramidal well-branched crown. Over time, the crown expands and the lower branches become widely spread. Its picturesque funnel-shaped growth takes it to a height of approximately 3-5 m and up to 2.5 m in width. The fiery colours of the leaves of this small deciduous cherry tree are a sensation.
The scented flowers are small white in the bud contrasting brilliantly with new emerging copper-bronze foliage in early spring. Depending on the weather, flowering occurs between mid-March and mid-April, before the leaves emerge. The young leaves are copper but mature to attractive bright green in summer. Later in autumn, the leaves get a beautiful, strikingly intense red-orange colour with yellow hues.
Prunus Royal Flame has more intense colours than its close cousins. It is an undemanding tree with low maintenance and average watering requirements. It tolerates all normal garden soils but loves fresh to moist, nutrient-rich ones. It prefers sunny exposure, where it can really get a chance to show off with its flowers.
When planting, mix your garden soil with 50% potting soil. The tree is not sensitive to diseases and very hardy even in extreme winter.
Flowering cherries looks amazing with their spring blossoms. Royal Flame is suitable in massif, isolated or loose hedges. Recommended for gardens and as a street tree with impressive flowering and leaves.

Instructions
Top Tip
Prune your Prunus tree annually in midsummer to maintain its shape and remove any dead, damaged, or overcrowded branches. Avoid pruning during winter to minimise the risk of infection. For flowering varieties, prune immediately after blooming to encourage fresh growth and maximise next season's display. Regular maintenance will keep your tree healthy and looking its best year-round.
How to Water
Water your Prunus tree deeply after planting and consistently during its first growing season to help establish strong roots. Once established, the tree requires less frequent watering but should be watered during prolonged dry spells, especially in the summer months. Take care not to overwater, as Prunus trees dislike waterlogged conditions. Water early in the morning or late in the evening to minimise evaporation and ensure the roots can absorb the moisture effectively.
How to Plant
To plant a Prunus tree, choose a sunny or partially shaded position with fertile, well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and deep enough to accommodate it comfortably. Place the tree in the hole so that the root collar sits level with the soil surface, then backfill with a mixture of soil and organic matter, firming gently around the roots. Water thoroughly and apply a mulch layer around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds, keeping the mulch a few centimetres away from the trunk to prevent rot. Stake young trees for added support in windy areas.
