Product description
Tulip Shirley is a classic tulip variety, beginning life as an ivory white to slightly yellow with a delicate purple margin. As Shirley matures, the purple margin spreads and fades into a purple to pink blush all over the flower. Standing atop tallgrey-green stems and decorated with lance-shaped foliage, Shirley is a real show stopper which provides a range of different looks throughout its lifetime. For a spectrum of purple shades, we recommend planting Shirey with the deep maroon Queen ofNight, the bright purple Negrita and the white flamed purple Zurel.
Garden care: In September to December plant bulbs 15-20cm deep and 10-15cm apart in fertile, well-drained soil. Alternatively, allow 7-9 bulbs per 30cm sq. After flowering dead-head and apply a balanced liquid fertiliser each week for the first month. Once the foliage has died down naturally lift the bulbs and store in a cool greenhouse.

Top Tip
To extend bloom time, deadhead tulips after flowering and let the foliage die back naturally to nourish the bulbs for next year.
How to Water
Water tulips lightly after planting to settle the soil. Once they begin to grow, water regularly but avoid soggy conditions. Reduce watering once the flowers begin to fade, allowing the foliage to die back naturally.
How to Plant
Plant tulip bulbs in well-drained soil, 15-20cm deep and 4-6 inches apart. Choose a sunny location and ensure the pointed end of the bulb faces up. Plant in autumn for spring blooms, ensuring the soil is loose and well-drained.
