Product description

A vigorous perennial with a rich profusion of bright blooms which contrast nicely with the foliage below and are notable for their early flowering period. The Astrantia ‘Star of Billion’, also known as Masterwort, is a herbaceous perennial shrub with clumping, deeply lobed foliage of dark green and upright, branching stems which carry Spring and Summer blooming, rounded umbels of tiny, green-tipped, white florets surrounded by similarly coloured bracts.

Plant in moisture retentive, humus-rich, fertile, well-drained soils and keep in full or partial sun in a sheltered position. Tolerates drier soils and conditions once established but does not tolerate drought conditions.

Please Note: Images are for illustrative purposes only and designed to be a representation of the item(s) being sold. Herbaceous plants die back below the soil in the Winter and may be supplied in their dormant state during this time. Fresh growth will be seen the following Spring.

Instructions

Top Tip

Deadhead spent blooms to promote a longer flowering period.

How to Water

Water regularly, particularly during dry spells.

How to Plant

Dig in plenty of garden compost and plant in spring or autumn in rich, moist but well-draining soil. Astrantia grows well in full sun or partial shade but prefers a little shelter from strong afternoon sun. Create a hole slightly wider than the root ball and position the plant before backfilling, firming gently as you go. Water in well after planting.
