Product description
The Cistus ‘Decumbens’, also known as the Rock Rose, is a compact, low-growing evergreen shrub with a spreading habit which makes it a great choice for groundcover around tree bases or at the low edge of garden borders. The foliage is made up of densely packed, narrow, dark green leaves that are slightly sticky to the touch. Contrasting white flowers appear from early Summer with 5 wide, overlapping petals, each with a red spot near the base, to round out the display nicely.
Plant in any moderately moist, well-drained soil and keep in full sun. Grows well in poorer condition soils but will require full sun and a sheltered position. Drought tolerant once established.

Top Tip
Cistus doesn’t tolerate hard pruning well and doesn’t like to be moved, so choose your spot carefully and leave plenty of space for it to grow into.
How to Water
Water regularly throughout the first growing season until fully established. After this, cistus is drought tolerant and only needs to be watered during particularly dry spells.
How to Plant
Plant cistus in a warm, sheltered, sunny spot in light, well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice as big as the nursery pot and position the plant so the top of the root ball is at soil level. Backfill the hole with soil and compost, firm down gently, and water in well.
