Product description

This Cytisus White Lion garden shrub is ideal for any outdoor space. It provides height and structure to beds and borders, but also grows well in pots and containers, making it perfect for brightening patio and paved areas.

From May to June the plant is decorated with small, sweet-pea shaped white flowers. These highly fragrant blooms are bursting with nectar and attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators to the garden.

Also known as Broom, Cytisus is a low maintenance plant that is easy to grow in the right conditions. It prefers a sunny spot in well-draining soil that isn’t prone to waterlogging. Prune annually to maintain health, shape, and size. Brooms don’t tolerate transplanting well, so choose your spot carefully and avoid moving the shrub again.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

Cytisus thrives in poor, well-drained soil and requires minimal fertilization. Avoid heavy pruning, as it may reduce flowering.

How to Water

Water Cytisus plants regularly during dry periods but avoid overwatering. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings, as these plants are drought-tolerant once established. Water at the base to keep the foliage dry.

How to Plant

Plant Cytisus in well-draining, sandy or loamy soil. Choose a sunny spot with good air circulation. Dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball, place the plant, and backfill with soil. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch to retain moisture.
