About Outdoor Fern Plants
Ferns are the best kept secret of the gardening world. As shade-loving plants, they are the perfect solution to add lush shades of green to dark corners of your garden, and the fact that they are easy to grow and low maintenance makes them even more appealing! A common misconception about fern plants is that there is limited variety - but as you will see from our collection of ferns for sale, there is a huge selection of sizes, shapes and colours. In fact, as well as outdoor ferns, we stock a wide range of indoor ferns which will brighten up any home. We also offer free UK delivery on all orders over £50, so simply select the perfect ferns for your space and they will be at your doorstep in no time at all!
Garden Ferns
It would be a mistake to underestimate fern plants - they have been thriving since prehistoric times, and have a multitude of benefits to our garden.
They are ideal for landscaping because they provide excellent ground cover, and have been known to filter out harmful toxins from the soil, like heavy metals - so they can help other plants thrive. As we mentioned above, they are low maintenance and hardy, so once they have been established, you can sit back and enjoy them!
Most ferns, like Dryopteris affinis, prefer moist soil and love garden compost, but some types, like Polystichum polyblepharum, can survive in dry soil. Be sure to check the descriptions on the product listing to make sure they will thrive in your soil.
Use ornamental grasses, interspersed with some vibrant bedding plants, to create a beautifully balanced flower bed.
